HAPPY AND SAD

Posted by Unknown at 1:15 PM 0 comments

First year of my college life has ended;
The dreams that I saw of college have transcended.
Had experiences so astounding in this one year;
When I remember them I’m left with a smile and a tear.
First day started with moments of apprehension;
Followed by bunks so many, we were close to detention.
Misunderstandings were on the heights all dis year;
Some called me fake; some called me selfish, it was all I could hear.
I was broken and I was shattered many a times;
In my mind, of gloom and despair, there were chimes.
The politics I withstood was so new to me;
Back to home was where I wanted to flee.
But it was not all bad which I encountered;
God had planned some respectable memories, I wondered.
P2 was the identity we 63 students were allocated;
The time in class, moments that could never get faded.
I made friends; fought with them, got back some and some went away;
But never intended to hurt anybody, this is all I could say.
My acts broke trust of some and some broke my trust;

I’m happy that I have true friends left, which was must.
The hostel life was full of ups and down;
How could I not recognize people, I frown.
The people whom I thought were friends turned out to be traitors;
And those, whom I was not close to, became my greatest supporters.
I met Latika, Devika and Garima, I feel so blessed;
I love u guys, without you my life would have been so wretched.
U stood by me, whenever I was sad;
I’m so glad to be a part of GLAD.
All in all, this was a year pleasant to reminisce;
I will recollect it always with eternal joy and bliss.

DO YOUR BIT

A boy visited a beach one day. He discerned that with every tide coming across the shore, some fishes appeared and were struck in sand as the tide went back. They were writhing in pain for some time and finally dying. The boy distressed about the happening, started to pick fishes one by one and flung them back into the sea. Some people went by and guffawed at him. But he continued. One man probed “O boy! There are thousands of fishes on the shore, what difference will throwing some of them back make?” The boy retorted “I can’t help every single fish, but I am doing my bit. Somewhere somebody else must be doing the same and saving some more fishes, so let us do what we can do”.
In today’s scenario when every individual is concerned about himself and no heed is paid to others; we often fail to become self-centred when we actually ought to. We have procured this propensity of cribbing about everything ensuing around. What we don’t comprehend is that we are also responsible for anything depraved happening in some or the other way. If we are so self-centred, then why can’t we take the responsibility and beget the difference we desire to have.
As the saying goes “be the change that you wish to see the most in your world.”
To possess a perfect world, everybody needs to do what he needs to do. Revolutions do not occur in a moment or two. Analogously we cannot transform everything in one day. But small actions can lead to big results. We should swot the concept of working from the “area of control”. We only have the power to control our deeds and we should make the most of it. What others do is only the “area of concern” where we can hardly make any difference.
Another issue why we don’t take ownership is the fear of the opinions of those inhabiting around and gleefully watching the show. Keeping faith in ourselves, we should always reminisce that if we have done right(for the betterment of others), we have done well, though alone; if wrong, the sanction of all mankind will not justify our act.
Norman Cousins has very well stated:
“The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside of us while we live.”
So wake up and just do it.

THE ESSENCE OF SPIRITUALITY

“Spirituality”- the term itself is a perplexing one. We often mistakenly assume a spiritual person as the one sitting in front of an idle and reiterating mantras. But in true sense, spirituality is a state of mind where we consider ourselves as a soul with a body rather than a body with a soul.
Spirituality gives us a sense of invisible guidance which exists around us eternally. It is beyond the limit of our five senses. We often call this guidance as intuition and this inner insight should never be taken lightly or ignored. Intuition is an indiscernible knock on our mind to behave in a certain way or to avoid something. Though inexplicable, intuition is truly a factor of our lives.
Spirituality should not portray an impression of detaching ourselves from rest of the world. It just makes us conscious of an invisible dimension of the physical world. The dimension which defies birth and death. The dimension which is not governed by the rules of the physical world. The dimension which never leaves us unaccompanied. The dimension which imperceptibly defines our lives.
Spirituality focuses on self-empowerment rather than concentrating on external power. External power is in the dominance of and control on the physical world while spiritual power is the power of love. A constructive mind-set and a mind at peace have the supreme power greater than any physical power. Spiritual power gives us the pleasure of knowing that external power is not necessary to be at harmony with ourselves.
Spirituality defines connection with other individuals. It inculcates in us that our existence influences the presence of every human we share this earth with. Being connected eliminates the need of conflict, confession and confrontation. It constrains us from judging people. It makes us understand that we cannot define others by our judgement; we only have the power of judging and defining ourselves.
Spirituality does not believe in cause and effect world. It is motivated by ethics and serenity. It appreciates a life of purpose; a life of lovingly serving others.
When we know such state of mind of spirituality, we often know that from such state of mind flows the miracle making magic.
Remember:
“Spirituality is a domain of awareness.”

MY CHAMP

A character completely contradicting mine;
Friendship we share is perfectly divine.
The first day I saw you, you seemed so shy;
The day we parted, all I could do was to cry.
Dwelling with you was so joyful;
The times we shared together were absolutely wonderful.
The timetables we formulated to study till five;
That cranberry juice that kept us alive.
I remember every novel's abstract you recited;
And also when i bought smiley earrings, you were disgusted.
All the virtuous you inculcated in me;
You were the best roomie i could ever foresee.
You understand me better than i do;
My basket of secret- it's you.
Even though the promise of going to the same college could not be kept;
To our whole new worlds, then we swept.
We still are together, bonded strong;
Our relation isn't momentary, its lifelong.
I cherish every moment, together we spent;
Just want to say thanks for being my best friend.
